Compacting Factor Test For Concrete
Steps to perform the experiment:
- Place the device on the ground and apply grease to the inner surface of the cylinder.
- Weigh the cylinder correctly by measuring the mass as w1 kg and fix the cylinder at the base such that the hopper and the central point of the cylinder lie on a vertical line and cover the cylinder with a plate.
- For each 5 kg the aggregate is to be prepared with a weight-to-water-cement ratio with 2.5 kg of sand and 1.25 kg of cement and pour the required amount of water until the concrete appears to be homogeneous.
- Gently and carefully fill the freshly mixed concrete in the upper hopper with the help of a hand scoop without compacting and leave the trap door within two minutes so that the concrete falls into the lower hopper so that it can bring the concrete to standard compaction.
- Bring the concrete to the standard and drop the concrete into the cylinder. Open the trap door of the compression and lower hopper as soon as the concrete comes to rest and then remove the excess concrete from the top of the cylinder with a pair of trowels, one with a saw motion in each hand from opposite sides of the mold towards the center. Will blade the horizontal slide.
- Clean the cylinder properly. Find the mass of the partially solidified concrete, thus filling in the cylinder and this is called W2 kg. Then refill the cylinder with the same sample of concrete in about 50 mm layers, shaking each layer heavily so as to eject all the air and achieve complete compaction of the concrete.
- Fully level concrete with concrete and weight and cylinder filled. Let the mass be W3 kg.
- Calculate the condensation factor using the formula:
C.F = W2 - W1 / W3 - W1
