Types of Concrete Blocks or Concrete Molding Unit

For simple construction work, Concrete block mesonry, also known as CMU concrete, has the advantage of being made of bricks and stones. Concrete blocks are made and made to the required shape and size and this can be solid concrete blocks or a unit of empty blocks. Here we briefly discuss the types of concrete blocks.

Types of concrete blocks

The following are the types of watches:

  • Solid concrete bricks
  • Empty concrete blocks

  • Solid Concrete Bricks

It is used for internal load walls and beams and floor blocking systems. Solid block is used in the form of pit construction or solid wall construction.

  • Empty concrete blocks

Empty concrete blocks are one of the most useful building materials, these are lightweight blocks and are used to carry loads on non-load-bearing walls. Typically, empty concrete blocks are 30 cm X 20 cm X 15 cm (12inch x 8inch x 6 inch) in size. Generally, in bare concrete blocks, the surface thickness should be at least 5 cm (2 ”) and the net area should be 55 to 66% of the total area. And the mud used has a cement mortar mixed in a 1: 6 ratio. blocks used for construction purposes must be at least 3 N / mm2 (450 lb / in2).

Types of empty concrete blocks

  •  Stretcher (3core)
  •  There are two
  • Strong web block bold
  • Channel bond beam or lintel block
  • Manage collaboratively
  • Concrete End block
  •  Corner block

  • (i) Physical extension (3 core):

The composition of this block is shown in the figs below

It is most common in reinforced concrete structures.

  • (ii) Double concrete:

Concrete Double Corner is commonly used for reinforced construction, the final study consisting of vertical steel and grout forming reinforced concrete column columns. Also read: Stones of Stone Building: Ashlar Masonry, Rubble Masonry

  • (iii) Strong web blocking feature:

Provides horizontal bar reinforcement space and grout. It is used to tie the wall together in critical areas to make a bond beam.

  • (iv) channel bond beam or wall block:

Provides horizontal bar reinforcement space. It had been building lintel over the opening.

  • (v) integrated control:

It is used to make extension joints in the vertical type in construction. A sealant is used between the connecting units.

  • (vi) Last block:

Used where the end of the unit will be displayed.

  • (vii) corner block:

A corner block is a block-block used on the corners and edges of a wall to create a running bond pattern.

Benefits of using empty concrete blocks:

The following are the main advantages of hollow concrete blocks:

  1.  There is no need to wear it, because this construction is done quickly.
  2. Concrete blocks are easy to handle due to light weight.
  3. There are significant savings in building materials.
  4. Due to their large size, the number of joints in stone construction does not save much mud.
  5. In concrete blocks, there is an empty space inside so the result has better protection against noise, heat, and moisture.
  6. Concrete stone walls save money because a cubic meter worth of stone machinery was about 15 to 20 percent more expensive than other brick walls.
  7. The cost of maintaining empty concrete blocks is small because it has no effect on efflorescence.
  8. It is eco friendly because, in empty blocks, the elements can be replaced by waste products such as fly ash.
  9. Concrete blocks do not work there is no need to make plastic because they can easily measure changes in the environment or atmospheric conditions.

Construction of concrete blocks

The highest quality concrete blocks are manufactured and cast with a mixture of Portland cement, mortar, sand, and fine stone. Lightweight concrete blocks are thrown with recyclable materials for home, consumer back glass, slag cement, or recycled composite waste and industries such as fly ash or ashes below. Lightweight blocks are also produced using open concrete.
