Water Supply System
Water Supply System: Each floor or unit within the water system system shall be given an impact valve additionally to the most control valve at the doorway of the system. One of the following public water supply systems will be adopted to distribute water to pipeline fixtures within the building.
Direct Connection To Water Main
For continuous water supply systems with sufficient pressure to feed all plumbing fixtures during peak demand periods, a direct connection to the water distribution system in water complexes can be adopted. However, pumping directly from the public water main should be strictly prohibited.
Balancing Roof Tank Incorporating System
For a continuous water supply system with insufficient pressure to supply water to the balancing tank during in-demand hours or intermittent water supply, a balanced roof tank would be required to feed the pipeline fixtures within the building. The connection of the balancing roof tank to the water main or ground tank or from individual water sources will be through a non-return valve.
Systems Incorporating Ground Tanks
For water supply systems with insufficient pressure to feed pipeline fixtures or balanced roof tanks, the building complex will have a ground (or underground) tank for storing water. To feed the plumbing fixtures the water from the ground tank will be extended to the roof tank. The connection of water to the ground tank will be through the ball valve system. Installation of booster pump will not be allowed to be done directly in the water main. Since, this system cannot ensure protection against potential contamination (especially during floods), disinfection systems should be included.
Individual Water Supply
In the absence of a public water supply system, or in case of need for additional supply of water, the building complex will have an individual water supply. Water from sources (DTW) will be pumped to the rooftop storage tanks to feed the plumbing fixtures.
